SPECTRUM is Waterloo Region's Rainbow Community Space. Our vision is of an inclusive community where all 2SLGBTQ+ individuals are welcomed, celebrated, and supported as their authentic selves.
Volunteers serving as co-hosts for the drop-in sessions need to have social and group facilitation skills, as well as demonstrated sensitivity to the topics being discussed. Their responsibilities include welcoming visitors, introducing them to others, informing them about available SPECTRUM resources when appropriate, and guiding conversations. The ideal candidate should identify as a 2SLGBTQ+ individual and bring to the team strong emotional intelligence and regulation, a sincere interest in people and their stories, the ability to make others feel comfortable in a welcoming space, and excellent active listening skills, demonstrating comfort in listening more than speaking.
